Cammy was introduced in 1993 in the popular Japanese arcade fighting game called Super Street Fighter 2. At the time, she was an amnesiac and fighting on the side of the British special forces destined to get rid of the Shadowloo boss Vega (M. Bison in the English language versions of the game).

She was a very quick and strong fighter, but her past was also shrouded in mystery. At the end of the game, it was discovered that Vega had been her lover until he tried to get rid of her when it turned out that he could not control her mind. Having survived an assasination attempt, Cammy was taken in by the British secret services and trained to become a professional spy and fighter. She no longer recalled any of that which had happened during her stay in the Shadowloo empires grasps. She however exhibited continuous disoriented feelings as her memory came back to her from time to time.
