Merle (known as Meruru in Japan) is a human like cat-girl that is approximately 13 earth years old. As an infant, Merle was orphaned and later found by Valgus who adopted her into the Fanelian royal family. From then on, she has been Van's companion on every occasion and has become very protective of him. She becomes very jealous when Hitomi appears on the screen due to her unusual attire and behaviour that attract Van's attention.
